Dog Art Wine Label Contest

For the second year in a row, Dog Art Today (http://dreamdogsart.typepad.com) and Mutt Lynch Winery partnered to host a dog art wine label contest this past spring. Year Two was a big success, with 77 dog artists submitting fantastic entries.

Over 16,000 votes were cast to select the top ten entries. Winemaker/winery owner Brenda Lynch, Dog Art Today founder Moira McLaughlin, and Mutt Lynch label designer Rae Huestis then deliberated for more than three hours to select the winner. It was a tough decision, but the judges’ choice was “Rusty” by Kimberly Kelly Santini.

The painting was done in memory of Kimberly’s grandfather, who recently passed away. Rusty was his dog when Kimberly was very young, and when the  family gathered to mourn his passing, Rusty played a part in many of the stories that were shared.

Rae finalized the label design and “Rusty” now graces Brenda Lynch’s 2008 Rusty Muttitage, a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot, and 8% Petit Sirah aged in her best French Oak barrels. 10% of the proceeds from sales of this wine will be donated to the San Francisco SPCA.

Presented here is the finished wine label based on the winning painting, along with three runners-up. To view some original dog paintings and taste some fine wines, attend a Mutt Lynch event or plan a private tour and tasting. Learn more or buy wine at www.muttlynchwinery.com.
