SFSPCA and Macy’s Partner for 29th Annual Holiday Windows

Celebrate the season by joining the San Francisco SPCA and Macy’s for the 29th annual Holiday Windows event. The window displays feature adorable–and adoptable–cats and dogs who need loving homes. This tradition is one of the most beloved symbols of the holiday spirit in San Francisco.

In a special holiday cheer event, on November 20, at 5 p.m., the Windows, inspired by the golden anniversary of the classic holiday animated special A Charlie Brown Christmas, were unveiled on the corner of Stockton and O’Farrell streets by Snoopy, this year’s special guest. Before the unveiling, children in the De Marillac Academy choir performed classic holiday songs.

Last year, 267 animals found homes during Holiday Windows and $90,000 was raised to provide year-round support for the SF SPCA’s lifesaving programs. Over the last 28 years, Holiday Windows has helped more than 8,500 animals find loving forever homes.

“This tradition is a wonderful expression of the holiday spirit in San Francisco,” said Jennifer Scarlett, DVM, SF SPCA co-president. “This is our biggest event of the year, and we’re incredibly thankful for Macy’s ongoing partnership. Their support has helped thousands of animals in need.”

“Macy’s Union Square is proud to continue the tradition of the iconic SF SPCA Holiday Windows,” said Robert Sleigh, vice president store manager of Macy’s Union Square. “The windows have become a symbol of the holidays in San Francisco. They help us spread the generosity and spirit of the holiday season by finding loving homes for animals in need and bringing joy to the families that adopt them.”

Holiday Windows relies on volunteer support. The short two-hour shifts involve greeting the public, collecting donations, and directing people to the SF SPCA adoption center inside Macy’s.
Each window is equipped with a camera that streams video to sfpsca.org/holiday, so you can watch the kittens and puppies from your computer throughout the season. Whether you check it out virtually or in-person, this special event brings together holiday cheer, generous volunteers, and precious pets. Thank you SPCA and Macy’s for keeping this tradition alive.

November 20 – January 3, the SF SPCA will be waiving the adoption fees for adult cats (6+ months) adopted at its permanent shelter locations in the Mission and Pacific Heights. For hours and locations, visitsfspca.org/contactvisit.
