Mr. Smarty Pants Knows

The Bedlington terrier used to be called the Rothbury Terrier.

The name Fido, traditionally associated with dogs, means “fidelity” in Latin. Abe Lincoln once had a dog named Fido and there is a dog by that name in the classic Raggedy Ann Stories series.

Mike Myers has three dogs named after hockey players: Nikolai Borschevsky, Doug Gilmour, and Dave Keon.

The Sealyham terrier came from South Wales and first rose to prominence around 1910. The name derives from a residence in Pembrokeshire and the breed was developed by Captain John Edwardes, who wanted a dog that could go after a fox, badger, or polecat. In 2008, only 43 puppies were registered in the United Kingdom, which makes it a Vulnerable Native Breed.

Dogs bark to warn. If they have the urge to bite, they are usually quiet.
