Owen Patrick Smith brought greyhound racing to the United States in 1906. His most notable invention was the mechanical lure (rabbit) and the first track to use it was in Emeryville, California.
The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier was named in honor of the late president but he never owned or developed the breed.
