Most dogs won’t exercise on their own. They need your participation to stay in shape.

Excessive self-biting, chewing, or licking paws might mean your dog is bored. Doing this may result in a release of dopamine and opioid neurochemicals in your dog. Paw licking can run in families. Best to check with your veterinarian, however – it can also mean an allergic reaction or skin irritation.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, 78% of dogs owned in the United States are either spayed or neutered.

In 1867, Alexander Graham Bell taught the family dog, a Skye terrier named “Trouve,” to say, “How are you, grandma?” He had to help the dog, however, by reaching into the dog’s mouth and manipulating the dog’s lips and vocal cords.

The Saluki is the oldest dog breed. It is considered a sight hound — a dog that hunts primarily by speed and sight — and can run up to 40 miles an hour.
