- Keep your dog away from antifreeze, a deadly poison. They are sometimes attracted by the smell and may lick up spills, so keep an eye on your dog at all times!
- Dress your canine warmly. Very young, very old, and very small dogs all can suffer in the cold. Those coats at your local dog boutique can truly be life-savers.
- Leave your dog at home when running errands on a stormy or frigid day. Getting in and out of the car to accompany you OR waiting for you in the car can over-expose him to the elements.
- If you have a fireplace and use it, be sure it is screened off from pets. Also put a barrier around exposed heat sources like radiators. Brushing against them can cause serious burns.
