Bay Woof’s 3rd Annual Beast of the Bay Awards Party

On Saturday, March 19, about 100 dog-friendly folk braved torrential rains to convene at El Rio in the Mission for Bay Woof’s third annual Beast of the Bay Awards party. Live music, a no-host bar, and yummy food – plus plenty of furry revelers underfoot – contributed to the festive mood.

Lots of great canine-oriented items were raffled off to benefit Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, the 2011 Beast of the Bay Award winner for Best Rescue Group. Ticket sales were brisk at $1 each or $10 for a strip of tickets as long as your arm – or your dog.

Cajun cooking was in the air with hot links on the grill, served with red beans and rice and spicy coleslaw. Dogs enjoyed free biscuits and the opportunity to make new friends, both human and canine.

Thanks to El Rio and all who contributed to this great event by donating goods and services, showing up, buying raffle tickets, and having a woofin’ good time. We’re already looking forward to next year!
