“Stars to the Rescue” at Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation

 

The stars shone brightly at Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation’s (ARF) 20th Stars to the Rescue celebration at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek on Friday, January 7.

Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti, Tom Johnston of the Doobie Brothers, Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles, and vocalist Charlie Williams rocked the crowd, while comedians Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan made them roar.

The ever-popular annual fundraiser sold out this year, with all proceeds going to support ARF’s lifesaving programs for animals and their people.

In addition to lively silent and live auctions and a spirited after-party for sponsors, performers, and top ticket holders, the evening included an award ceremony for community members whose actions and generosity make ARF’s dreams a reality. The Evie Award went to Gregory L. McCoy, Esq.; the Hope Award was received by Young & Rubicam; and The Elaine La Russa Founder’s Award went to Pat Derby & Ed Stewart of Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS).
