(CPR), a 501(c)3 nonprofit formed in 2012, held its first fundraising gala on March 2 at the Alameda Fine Art Gallery. By all reports the event was a woofing success. Entertainment included a performance by Punk Burlesque troupe Can-Cannibals, musical stylings from DJ Malachi, and the undisputed stars of the evening, Kissing Booth Pit Bulls Alita and Tane. Vegan chef Jerry Buchanan provided fresh-hors d’oeuvres cooked on-site (happily devoured by carnivores and herbivores alike), while scrumptious miniature vegan cakes from CupKatery added a sweet touch. CPR raised much needed funds to offset the costs of veterinary care, food, training, and enrichment programs it provides to dogs in need.
